Two quirky issues when entering path for torrent download
Here is a screencast of these two issues.

When you add a torrent download, you're prompted to enter a location for this, but just after it gets the metadata, it replaces the path with the default. This means you have to wait for it to get the metadata before entering a path. Can be frustrating.
Then, when you do enter a path, if you press the spacebar, the cursor jumps to the beginning of the textbox. You can enter a space later on, but just not while typing. Again, this is frustrating.

Please try to install and use the latest 2.6.3.beta. Maybe it will work the way you expect it to.
