AntDM not dowloading a file

Some user wants to download the PDF file automatically, the other user does not want to do it.

no, you're not getting it, the pdf is embedded in the page, it is meant to be showed in the page among other elements, it's not a full page PDF (and only a PDF), plus this is a bug, it didn't happen in previus versions...

Some users want to download the PDF are not intended for direct download.
If I will do that PDF is not downloaded, then other users will write at once, they can not download it.

no, you still don't get it. it's an embedded PDF viewer, it's meant to show the pdf in a small frame inside the web page in the same way an embedded video/audio player works.

this is different from, for example something like this: http://www.address.com/files/file.pdf
in that case you can either
a. show the pdf inside the browser
or
b. download the pdf

but in the case we're talking about, the pdf is in en embedded PDF viewer, it is eant to be shown inside the webpage, where you can flip the pages.

Your site for MP4 - AntDM is not downloading here.

Your site for PDF - AntDM is downloading here. If I open the site and press Ctrl for a few secs then AntDM doesn't download and the PDF works here.

I'm using the latest beta (remember the problem with the extension failing, that this beta sems to fix)

Files are captured in the HTTP protocol.
HTTP protocol does not provide information on how the PDF file will be used.
Browser can offer to save it, and can use it as part of the body of his page.
Extension doesn't know that. There are three options.
- don't capture a PDF file, give it to your browser.
- capture PDF and cancel its transfer to the browser
- to capture the PDF and give it to the browser at the same time.
I updated the beta. I implemented the last option for firefox extension. You can try it.

Thanks. Here's the thing,if there's no download manager installed, the browser WILL NOT offer to download the PDFs, they are embedded in the page, they're meant to be viwed in the page, not downloaded...

Please note that this is different from the case where you open a PDF in the browser, like the example I used earlier.

I got a question, since the latest beta, in the download window t says "downloading (M2)" in the status field. what does that M2 mean and why is it there???

I think it usefully only for me. It shows the type of download, and if the video is downloaded, it shows the type of video protocol. it will be removed from final version. M2 is the standard classic download for regular files.

BTW, I confirmed that this unwanted-dowload-of embedded-items-in-webepages behavior DOES NOT OCCUR in the latest stable, it started since the 1.15.1 betas...I REALLY hope you can reverse that, it is EXTREMELY annoying. First, it downloads unwanted files and, most imprtantly, it interferes with the normal functioning of the page.

Let me explain: version 1.15.0 worked fine, except that the extension failed approx. once a day and had to be disabled and re-enabled to work again (you narrowed it down to the way the ctrl key was being monitored).
Along came v1.15.1 beta, which fixed that bug, but instroduced a new one: unwanted download of objetcs (mp4 video, PDF files) that were embedded inside webpages. Those elements are intented to be shown inside the webpage, not downloaded (or at least not automatically!!), AntDM should only intercept files that are intended for download, like when you ckick on a file or open a pdf inside the browser. This has the potential to disrupt a lot of webpages, for example those that play music in the background using an embedded player, or show video in embedded player, etc...online radio is another example.

Most of the users when write me they refer to the IDM, as an unsurpassed example of the downloader. All should be, as is in IDM ... Well, now like IDM.

How do you want to do is impossible for Firefox and Vivaldi.
These browsers do not report when they start downloading file or when this file is a part of page element.
This can do for other chromium browsers but I should think.

because I download those files frequently, but when I CLICK ON THEM.
What I don't understand is that this was working just fine 1.15, it's these latest betas that have the problem...

In IDM, you can go to Options - General - Customize IDM Download panels in browsers - and Select the option "Don't capture downloads from web-players automatically".

I tried the MP4 and PDF websites mentioned by jvidal.
AntDM Stable
Vivaldi (MP4 website) - No MP4 download.
Firefox (MP4 website) - No MP4 download.
Vivaldi (PDF website) - PDF download. You cannot view the PDF on the website.
Firefox (PDF website) - PDF download. And the website is closed by AntDM.
AntDM Beta
Vivaldi (MP4 website) - No MP4 download.
Firefox (MP4 website) - MP4 download. And the website is closed by AntDM.
Vivaldi (PDF website) - PDF download. You cannot view the PDF on the website.
Firefox (PDF website) - PDF download. You can view the PDF on the website.

All I'm saying is that AntDM should distinguish between an embedded resource (video/audio/pdf) and another that one wants to download by clicking on a link...

With AntDM Beta and Firefox, what is happening is, just opening this website, AntDM shows the download window and closes the website.
This is not happening with AntDM Beta and Vivaldi.
This is not happening with AntDM Stable and Vivaldi and Firefox.
